As spotted by GI.biz, the letter comes ahead of Activision Blizzard’s annual meeting on 21st June and campaigns to remove Bobby Kotick, Brian Kelly, Robert Morgado, Robert Corti, Barry Meyer, and Peter Nolan from their positions. “Each of these directors failed either to recognise that Activision Blizzard for years maintained unsafe workplaces exhibiting frequent and repeated sexual harassment, sexual assault, and gender discrimination, or to appropriately address the Company’s ‘frat house’ culture once it was publicly revealed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) in its pending lawsuit, which was filed in July 2021,” the damning letter states....

Coming from developer Tindalos Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment, Aliens: Dark Descent is a “squad-based, single-player action game” that sees players commanding their soldiers in real-time as they take on Xenomorphs - including Facehuggers, Praetorians, and Alien Queens - as well as rogue human operatives from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. “Infiltrate large open levels and annihilate enemies with your squad, dispatching orders strategically and intuitively at the touch of a button,” the game’s newly launched Steam page explains....

It’s an odd milestone, but Bunny Day will be New Horizons’ first repeated in-game event. It will run again from 28th March to 4th April with the original egg hunting gameplay as well as some newly-added items to collect. However, these new items will simply be purchasable from Nook’s Cranny. It’s safe to say Nintendo heard the feedback on that one. This week’s update arrives on Thursday, 18th March, and also includes improvements to New Horizons’ custom design capabilities....

Apex Legends’ move to mobile was made official last April, when Respawn confirmed it would be a completely separate entity to its console and PC counterparts, meaning players should expect unique battle passes, even mobile-only maps and gameplay - although no cross-play. It also promises to tailor the experience specifically for mobile devices with the likes of streamlined controls for touchscreens. Apex Legends Mobile has been available to select players for some time now, having entered regional testing earlier this year, but Respawn has now confirmed its ready to roll out the experience globally, with its full iOS and Android launch now set for next Tuesday, 17th May....

After the launch of Titanfall 2, Respawn initially began work on Titanfall 3, but this was parked after the developer began to experiment with a battle royale mode in the Titanfall universe - and this became Apex Legends. According to the new blog post by game director Chad Grenier, the prototype was initially made by two designers, and was then developed into a game mode called “Survival” which allowed pilots and titans to battle it out to be last man standing....

The function was included last year to ease congestion in the ever-popular MMORPG, as players complained about long queue times due to overloaded servers. However, its removal in this latest patch suggests that congestion is finally easing. Despite advanced warnings, congestion hit a peak following the release of Endwalker in December last year, with producer Naoki Yoshida apologising to players for the long queue times. In an extreme move, the game was pulled from sale to stop new players joining....

The sale, which began on 1st November, takes a whopping 88 percent off the game’s usual price and it’s clearly led to a resurgence of players. The six-year old game is now well ahead of last year’s beleagured Battlefield 2042 and 2018’s Battlefield 5 as the most popular game from the series on Steam. A comparison of all three games (thanks, SteamDB) shows that Battlefield 2042 has almost consistently been the least played after its release, with Battlefield 5 remaining as the most played up until the end of October....

The content drop is familiar too, with Season Two containing just one new map, a new specialist, a couple of new vehicles and some new weapons. Despite the snail’s pace in which DICE is moving to improve the game since its disastrous launch last year, the new content looks promising, and most importantly feels up to the standard we used to expect from the DICE of yesteryear. The new map, Stranded, is even smaller than the already small Exposure that dropped with Season One....

Players will be able to play in squads and build loadouts using weapons and gadgets veteran players should recognise, like the F2000 bullpup rifle. Of course, these are choices you end up making through dialogue options throughout the game, creating a Louise whose future characteristics are based on Mitch’s observation of your behaviour. It begins with Louise having to collect her final paycheck from her abusive boss at the nearby diner, with Mitch (supposedly) sitting in the car....

The BBC reported on YouTuber Vikkstar’s decision to quit Activision’s free-to-play battle royale after he released a video saying Warzone was in “the worst state it has ever been”. Vikkstar, whose real name is Vikram Singh Barn, has over seven million subscribers on YouTube. His video declaring his decision to quit has been viewed over 1m times. “Activision isn’t addressing how many hackers there are in the game,” Vikkstar said....

There’s no denial of the details of Bloomberg’s reporting, which also claimed that a new free-to-play Call of Duty was in the works. Treyarch, whose game is now expected in 2024, is said to be assisting development on that. “We have an exciting slate of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year and beyond,” an Activision spokesperson said in a statement passed to Eurogamer. “Reports of anything otherwise are incorrect....

Since 2013 they’ve been making astonishingly brisk and playable arcade games, generally for smartphones. Two people made all these games? How? The Anniversary Update - I see what you did with the name there - is out now and introduces a handful of tweaks and improvements, including a journal “overhaul” that permits you to cross off evidence, change your settings, and generally make it “easier to use and navigate”. You can also play offline singleplayer without forcing you to connect to the server, and will no longer get a pity payment of $10 when you fail a contract; now you’ll “get the insurance depending on the chosen difficulty”....

CEX is one of several non-essential high street retail chains which have opted to stay open to offer click-and-collect. This is permitted by government guidelines, which describe click-and-collect as a service “where goods are pre-ordered and collected off the premises”.
