Confirming the new figures in its latest financial report, developer/publisher Krafton confirmed that net profit for the company was up 37 per cent when compared with the same quarter last year, even though both operating profit and revenue were down by 6.9 per cent and 7.8 per cent respectively. 94 per cent of the battle royale’s revenue is generated outside of South Korea, where the game is made. “PUBG: Battleground, which is available on PC and consoles, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary,” the company explains....

This project will be aimed at building an “NFT metaverse platform”, with Krafton using its experience of creating games such as PUBG to “develop a user-generation content [UGC] creation tool”. The company will use Unreal Engine to build a “high-quality virtual world”. Naver Z (the company behind Asia’s largest metaverse platform Zepeto), will then use its experience to manage “the metaverse service and its surrounding community and social services”. Insomniac describes the game as “a brand-new full-length adventure”. The developer had previously stated two Control games were in the works, including a multiplayer spin-off and Codename Heron, though a sequel was not formally announced. Maus, who died on Sunday night due to complications associated with colon cancer, worked on a variety of characters in the upcoming Resident Evil Village, including the witches seen in promotional videos. Capcom issued a statement on Twitter paying tribute to the actor. “We here at Capcom R&D 1 are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jeanette Maus, the talented actress who helped bring several different characters, including our witches to the world in Resident Evil Village,” Capcom said....

Known only as “Apex Universe FPS Incubation Title”, the game is clearly in the very early stages, but already the team is looking to bring a host of new developers on to what seems to be a singleplayer shooter that will be a “brand new Respawn single-player adventure”. Respawn’s careers page, first noticed by Dextero, is currently hiring for numerous projects, including Apex Legends, its Mobile equivalent, the upcoming Star Wars FPS, and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Fallen Order’s recently announced sequel....

Respawn has already indicated it’s taking the situation seriously - banning some behind high-profile cases, and mentioning that it’s even considering legal action against those carrying out the attacks. But it seems progress is being made towards a more permanent solution, with security analyst Conor “Hideouts” Ford explaining on Twitter that significant progress has been made on a fix. “The DDoS situation is being addressed as we speak by our very own @ricklesauceur [lead software engineer Samy Duc],” Ford said....

Chatting at GDC (via IGN), Insomniac lead designer Mark Stuart said: “For a while we switched to her just being named Ratchet. After all, she and Ratchet are technically dimensional counterparts. Ratchet is a non-gendered name.” However, this soon made the game very confusing, so this idea was ultimately scrapped. “For example: ‘Ratchet needs to rescue Clank from Ratchet, who doesn’t trust Ratchet and has a long history battling Nefarious,’” explained Staurt....

Earlier this year, Jeff Grubb reported that a Black Panther game was in the works with EA. Now, the loose-lipped journalist has shared that another Marvel project is also underway with the company. Chatting as part of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings stream, Grubb stated: “[EA is] making that Black Panther game we spoke about… and [it’s] making another Marvel game that’s single player”. This comment was said in a rather throw away manner, but, of course, it was quickly picked up by the internet....

Sam & Max: Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space were, if you’re unfamiliar, some of the earliest titles from The Walking Dead studio Telltale Games (releasing in 2006 and 2007 respectively), each serving up a six-episode arc of point-and-click mayhem starring Steve Purcell’s anarchic comic book crime-fighting dog and bunny duo. In the world of Guilty Gear, Baiken is a wandering samurai out for revenge on That Man. She isn’t a playable character in the recently-released Guilty Gear Strive, although she appears briefly in the story mode. Ash will be a host for Cyberpunk 2077’s in-game radio station, which is known as 89.7 Growl FM. The streamer shared this news on Twitter over the weekend, with an accompanying tweet introducing the DLC’s new community radio station. Developer CD Projekt Red is now asking fans to create their own tracks inspired by the video voiced by Grey (see below tweet), offering them the chance to have their music featured in the game....
